Took a photo workshop on doing High Dynamic Range photographs at the Wye Marsh in Midland this weekend, taught by John Davidson
http://www.johndavidsonphotography.com/HDR lets you blend several exposures together into one photograph and retain detail in the shadows and highlights that a single exposure could not reproduce. The following image was taken looking into the sun and manipulated on the computer to create an HDR image, The second image is what you would get with a single regular camera exposure.


Following are some other images from the weekend as I practice this technique, You can give the images a more surreal look or a traditional feel. I like the bumped sharpness /contrast and the more surreal look
